A Bipartisan Task Force reviewing the Medical Research, Medical Treatments, and Intervention of patients with a Brain Injury. This task force examines diseased based brain injuries, as well a Traumatic Brain Injury from a blow to the head by a blunt object, fall, or assault. Currently there are 74 Members.

H.R. 2992 – Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disoverd Law Enforcment Training Act

Directing the Attorney General to develop crisis intervention training tools for use by first responders related to interacting with persons who have a traumatic brain injury, another form of acquired brain injury, or post-traumatic stress disorder, and for other purposes effective 2027.
“The attorney General, acting through the Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance, in consultations with the Director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, shall solicit best practices regarding techniques to interact with persons who have a traumatic brain injury, an acquired brain injury, or post-truaumatic stress disorder from first responder, brain injury veteran, and mental health organizations, health care and mental health provides, hospital emergency drepartments, and other relevant stakeholders, and shall develop crisis internvention training tools for use by first responders…”

National program for traumatic brain injury surveillance and registries, Prevention and control of injuries, State grants for projects regarding traumatic brain injury. State grants for protection and advocacy services. Report on designating brain injury as a chronic condition. Traumatic Brain Injury definition: “(2) (A) The term ‘traumatic brain injury’ means an acquired injury to the brain.“(B) Such term—“(i) does not include brain dysfunction caused by congenital or degenerative disorders, nor birth trauma; and “(I) brain injuries caused by anoxia due to trauma; and (II) damage to the brain from an internal or external source that results in toxicity, surgery, or vascular disorders not associated with aging.
S.894 – Public Safety Officer Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury Health Act of 2023. 118th Congress (2023-2024)

To require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to collect and disseminate information on concussion and traumatic brain injury among public safety officers.
“The Secretary, acting through the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shall collect and make publicly available information on concussion and traumatic brain injury among public safety officers, including research related to evidence-based practices and personal protective equipment recommendations, and medical information related to diagnosing, protocols for identifying and treating, and measures for reducing the incidence of concussion and traumatic brain injury among public safety officers.”
